It may be that the LORD will look on mine affliction, and that the LORD will requite me good for his cursing this day.   2 Samuel 16:12

How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.   2 Corinthians 8:2 


The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.   Philippians 1:16, 17

But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.   2 Timothy 4:5 


But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions;
Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used.   Hebrews 10:32, 33 


Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;
Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.   Hebrews 11:25, 26 


Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.   James 1:27 


Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.   James 5:10 


Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.   1 Peter 5:9
