If there arise a matter too hard for thee in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within thy gates: then shalt thou arise, and get thee up into the place which the LORD thy God shall choose;
As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbor to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbor, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live:
And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried: Thus the Jews smote all their enemies with the stroke of the sword, and slaughter, and destruction, and did what they would unto those that hated them. Esther 9:5 Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning. Job 23:2 Because there is wrath, beware lest he take thee away with his stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee. Job 36:18 Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand. Psalm 39:10 A fool's lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes. Proverbs 18:6 He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth. Isaiah 14:6 Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their wound. Isaiah 30:26 Son of man, behold, I take away from thee the desire of thine eyes with a stroke: yet neither shalt thou mourn nor weep, neither shall thy tears run down. Ezekiel 24:16 Comments and QuotesPlease support the Incapacitated Persons Legal Protection Act of 2005. I had a close friend who was in a similar condition to Terri Shiavo (actually, much less responsive) who recovered and was able to speak and interact with others. She also had been denied hydration/nutrition for a period of time (the doctors had convinced her husband that there was no hope for her recovery). The time I was able to spend with her after she was able to speak again was precious to both of us and I would not have wanted to miss that opportunity. Thank you for your concern for this issue! - Cathleen Rooks - 154 I have a question about the many cultured milk products that now contain added nonfat milk ( I suppose to provide more body or a thicker texture ). I am having a difficult time finding products that have not been "adulterated" in this manner, especially with store brands, which are more affordable for me, There are at present no warning labels indicating the presence of lactose in this type of product. I also am not sure if the "pure" cultured milk products may still contain a small amount of lactose (even tiny amounts affect me). I would like to be able to use these foods for the calcium benefit. Could you give me any information on this? Is lactose content (as opposed to "milk products") going to be included in the new labeling guidelines for 2006? I am especially concerned about this because my mother has severe osteoporosis and I want to follow a preventative diet. - Cathleen Rooks - 141 Many people think the terms food allergy and food intolerance mean the same thing; however, they do not. A food intolerance is an adverse food-induced reaction that does not involve the immune system. Lactose intolerance is an example. A person with lactose intolerance lacks an enzyme that is needed to digest milk sugar. When the person eats milk products, symptoms such as gas, bloating, and abdominal pain may occur. A food allergy occurs when the immune system reacts to a certain food. The most common form of an immune system reaction occurs when the body creates IgE antibodies to food protein. When these IgE antibodies react with the food, histamine and other chemicals (called mediators) are released from various cells within the body. These mediators cause hives, asthma, or other symptoms of an allergic reaction. Milk-allergic individuals can safely consume pure lactose, but must avoid nonfat milk and all other products that contain milk protein. The new labeling law will require that any food containing milk protein be labeled as a milk allergen. Milk sugar (lactose) would not fall under this law unless it also contained some milk protein. - Debbie Scherrer - 142 There's a point at which the treatment cannot bring about a cure. - Dr. Gene Rudd - 168 Disclaimer: This website is for educational and informational purposes only.
