But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.   Genesis 19:4, 5 


Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.
And the LORD spake unto me, saying,
Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.   Deuteronomy 2:1-3 


So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.   Joshua 6:11
