And if the man like not to take his brother's wife, then let his brother's wife go up to the gate unto the elders, and say, My husband's brother refuseth to raise up unto his brother a name in Israel, he will not perform the duty of my husband's brother.
Then the elders of his city shall call him, and speak unto him: and if he stand to it, and say, I like not to take her;
Then shall his brother's wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his shoe from off his foot, and spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother's house.   Deuteronomy 25:7-9 


And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.   Deuteronomy 27:1 


Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your  God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,

Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call  heaven and earth to record against them.   Deuteronomy 31:28 


Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will show thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee.   Deuteronomy 32:7

Then the elders of the congregation said, How shall we do for wives for them that remain, seeing the women are destroyed out of Benjamin?
And they said, There must be an inheritance for them that be escaped of Benjamin, that a tribe be not destroyed out of Israel.   Judges 21:16, 17

Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my  silver, and for my  gold; and I denied him not.

Now as soon as this letter cometh to you, seeing your master's sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and  horses, a fenced city also, and armor;
Look even out the best and meetest of your master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house.

And he that was over the house, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and the bringers up of the children, sent to Jehu, saying, We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any king: do thou that which is good in thine eyes.   2 Kings 10:1-5 


And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.   2 Kings 19:2 


And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.   2 Kings 23:1

And it came to pass in the sixth year, in the sixth month, in the fifth day of the month, as I sat in mine house, and the elders of Judah sat before me, that the hand of the Lord  GOD fell there upon me.   Ezekiel 8:1

Then came the word of the LORD unto me, saying,
Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord  GOD; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord  GOD, I will not be enquired of by you.   Ezekiel 20:1-3 


And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem Aholibah.   Ezekiel 23:4 


Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your  God, and cry unto the LORD,
Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.   Joel 1:14, 15

Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill him.   Matthew 26:3, 4 


And while he yet spake, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with  swords and staves, from the chief priests and elders of the people.   Matthew 26:47 


And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;
But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of  God, and to build it in three days.   Matthew 26:57-61 


When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.
Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of  silver to the chief priests and elders,
Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent  blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.   Matthew 27:1-4 


And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.   Matthew 27:12 


But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.   Matthew 27:20 


Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.   Matthew 27:41, 42 


And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large  money unto the soldiers,

He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their  heart is far from me.   Mark 7:3-6 


And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.   Mark 8:31 


And they come again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders,
And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?

Then Jesus said unto the chief priests, and captains of the temple, and the elders, which were come to him, Be ye come out, as against a thief, with  swords and staves?
When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.   Luke 22:52, 53

If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom  God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.   Acts 4:5-10 


And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.   Acts 4:23 


And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.   Acts 6:12-14 


Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.   Acts 11:30 


And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed.   Acts 14:23 


When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that  God had done with them.
But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.   Acts 15:2-6 


Then pleased it the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; namely, Judas surnamed Barsabas and Silas, chief men among the brethren:

And as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.   Acts 16:4 


And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.   Acts 20:17 


And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.   Acts 21:18

Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:

And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for  God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.   1 Peter 5:1-5 


The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.   Revelation 4:10, 11 


And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of  God sent forth into all the earth.
And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.   Revelation 5:5-8

Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
And every creature which is in  heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the  sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.   Revelation 5:11-14 


And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped  God,
Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our  God for ever and ever. Amen.
And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in  white robes? and whence came they?
And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them  white in the  blood of the Lamb.   Revelation 7:11-14 


And the four and twenty elders, which sat before  God on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped  God,
Saying, We give thee thanks, O LORD  God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.   Revelation 11:16, 17 


And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.   Revelation 14:3 


And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped  God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.   Revelation 19:4
