Light and Darkness

And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.   Genesis 1:4, 5 

And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.   Genesis 1:18 

And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.   Exodus 14:20 

For thou art my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.   2 Samuel 22:29 

Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.   Job 3:4

The waters are hid as with a stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.   Job 38:19-30 

For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness.   Psalm 18:28 

Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.   Psalm 112:4 

If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.   Psalm 139:11, 12 

Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness.   Ecclesiastes 2:13

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.   Isaiah 45:7 

Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and stay upon his God.   Isaiah 50:10 

And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:
And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.   Isaiah 58:10, 11 

Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.   Isaiah 59:9 

Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.   Jeremiah 13:16 

He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.   Lamentations 3:2 

All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.   Ezekiel 32:8 

He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.   Daniel 2:22

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.   John 3:19

To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.   Acts 26:18 

And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law.   Romans 2:19, 20 

The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.   Romans 13:12 

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.   1 Corinthians 4:5 

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.   2 Corinthians 4:6 

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.   2 Corinthians 6:14-16 

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.   Ephesians 5:8-10 

Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.   1 Thessalonians 5:5 

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;
Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.   1 Peter 2:9, 10 

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.   1 John 1:5 

Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.   1 John 2:8, 9
