...But Jesus answered and said to them, "You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures
nor the power of God. For in the Resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage,
but are like the angels in heaven. But regarding the resurrection of the dead, HAVE YOU NOT
READ WHAT WAS SPOKEN TO YOU BY GOD: 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac,
and the God of Jacob'? He is not the God of the dead but of the living." When the crowds
heard this, they were astonished at His teaching. (Matthew 22:29-33)

Jesus said to them, "DID YOU NEVER READ IN THE SCRIPTURES,
    'The stone which the builders rejected, this became the chief corner stone;
this came about from the Lord, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?" (Matthew 22:29-33)

...And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.
But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done,
and the children who were shouting in the temple, "Hosanna to the Son of David!",
they became indignant and said to Him, "Do You hear what these children are saying?"
And Jesus said to them, "Yes; HAVE YOU NEVER READ, 'Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies
You have prepared praise for Yourself'?" (Matthew 21:14-16)

And He answered and said, "HAVE YOU NOT READ that He who created them from the beginning
made them male and female, and said, 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother
and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." (Matthew 19:4-6)

At that time Jesus went through the grain fields on the Sabbath, and His disciples became hungry
and began to pick the heads of grain and eat. But when the Pharisees saw this, they said to Him,
"Look, Your disciples do what is not lawful to do on a Sabbath". But He said to them,
"HAVE YOU NOT READ what David did when he became hungry, he and his companions,
how he entered the house of God, and they ate the consecrated bread, which was not lawful
for him to eat nor for those with him, but for the priests alone? Or HAVE YOU NOT READ in the Law,
that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple break the Sabbath and are innocent? But I say to you
that something greater than the temple is here. But if you had known what this means,
'I desire compassion, and not a sacrifice', you would not have condemned the innocent." (Matthew 12:1-7)

...and [the Ethiopian official] was returning and sitting in his chariot,
AND WAS READING THE PROPHET ISAIAH. Then the [Holy Spirit of God] said to Philip, "Go up and join
this chariot". Philip ran up and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand
what you are reading?" And he said, "Well, how could I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited
Philip to come up and sit with him. Now the passage of Scripture which he was reading was this:

"He was led as a sheep to slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so He does not
open His mouth. In humiliation His judgment was taken away; who will [give the account of] His generation? For His life is removed from the earth." (from Isaiah chapter 53)

The eunuch answered Philip and said, "Please tell me, of whom does the prophet say this? Of himself
or of someone else?" Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture
he preached Jesus to him. (Acts 8:28-34) - 34854

  Words of Wisdom

Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel.   2 Chronicles 33:18

And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.   Revelation 5:8

  Comments and Quotes

1. There was an orthodox Jewish Rabbi who would only say his prayers in the Hebrew language. He felt that Hebrew was God's original language.

2. There was a devout Roman Catholic grandmother who would kneel down and say her prayers in the Latin language. She felt that Latin was a universal language that God would understand.

3. There was a Pentecostal-Charismatic Christian who would only "Pray in Tongues" while standing up. He felt that he was using the "language of angels" and that God would understand.

4. There was a Baptist pastor who would preach and pray with a British accent using King James style old British English. He would only read from the 1611 KJV Bible, and felt that was the best way.

When I spoke to these people on the street, they all spoke perfect American English and I understood what they were saying.

I may not always understand or agree with other people's traditions, rituals, style of worship, and methods of prayer. Christianity is a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Prayer is simply talking to God and listening to him for the answers. You need to ask God to give you wisdom, meet your needs, and help you to be all that he created you to be. - Ron Rooks - 264
